One of my dogs has very loose stools..All the other dogs are OK with exactly the same diet.
Does anyone have a suggestion as to what I could give this dog to improve the firmness of the stools?

Any and all suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks,
John

Not enough information..........

Has this dog always had loose stools?
What is this dog's temperament like?
How old is this dog?
How long have you had this dog?
What is the diet?
Have you checked for worms, cox and guirdia?

I agree with SitsaMom above. More information. It could also be pancreatic . Is the stool gray and very foul smelling?. Drinking lots of water and loosing weight are symptoms of Pancreatic syndrome.

I always have metrozidinole on hand. I always start them off with 500mg..this will not do anything if it is pancreatic though.

the dog may have issues with alpo, old roy, or pedigree.....or whatever its being fed.

i'd start by looking at the side of the feed sack and rule out issues with oats, groats, barley, corn and wheat. if after changing to a different feed.

If that doesn't work, i'd get a blood count and fecal done on the dog. if they are both normal, i'd still worm the dog per vet's instructions. if that doesn't work it medicate for coccidia and then guirdia.

if none worked, i'd give imodium or peptobismal for a day or two just to get things back on track and see what happens

if that doesn't work, id have checked for sibo, and other organ issues.
