what experience do you have with this treatment? I`ve heard that i can cause "hot spots" and set the dogs immunsystem down? And what about frontline in tablet form? Thank you :)

This is a product that has been used by tens of thousands If not more) of people on their dogs. From such a number you will find some that had reactions to the product. I doubt therefore that anything you receive here could be considered as anecdotal evidence from a scientific point of view, even if you were to get 100 responses. The only way you will find anything meaningful is to get a hold of the scientific studies which have been done by various universities to see if what the actual risks to a dog might be. What was my experience. I have used Frontline for years on my GSDs with no problem whatsoever. No hotspots, no nothing. Just dead ticks etc. Worked great. What does that mean for your dog---nothing. Having said that, I believe you will find that there are a large body of satisfied users of this product who will answer your question as I have. There will also be a smaller group that will have experienced some adverse side effect, most mild I would think, but I bet someone , somewhere will tell you their dog died from it. Just the way it is with drugs and medicines and insecticides etc.

I don't believe Frontline is available in a tablet..it is not absorbed by the dog .. it travels from hair follicle to hair follicle I have used it for a very very very long time(ever since it was introduced) and like Gertrude have had no problems but a life free of ticks and fleas..... I believe it is probably the safest product out there.. but that doesn't mean for every dog Have you tried K9 Advantix?? Have some friends who swear by it and don't like Frontline.. maybe worth a try??

I have been using Frontline for about 9-10 years with no adverse reactions. I have used Frontline Plus for the last 5 years and have had no problems either. I would recoommend it. As with any medication, each dog is different and could possibly have a reaction, but I have never personally heard of anyone that had a problem with it.

We've been using Frontline Plus for about 3-years. Our vet's charge is comparable to what we could buy it for so we have the dogs done there. With five dogs, none have shown any adverse reaction. Sometimes problems can happen from incorrect dosage, but that is with any medication.

where are you animules??? check out www.entirelypets.com, www.petvetdirect.com as well... entirely pets is the best and it is WAAAAAY cheaper than what you get from your vet.... I can get 12 doses for around $100.... no where close at the vets office!

As I mentioned in a post a few days ago, I have only had one (1) issue ever with Frontline, and for that bitch I use Revolution. All of my other dogs use Frontline with no issues at all. It is my experience that while both products are excellent for flea control, the Frontline works better against ticks. Bob-O

DKiah, Thanks for the info. Our vet is within a couple bucks per dose if we buy through an on-line place. Two other major factors in our decission to have our vet do it. 1. We know it's the real deal. We've seen reports of gray market product sold through some on-line places, packaging is so close even the places didn't know. 2. It's basically cheap goodwill with our vet to have him do some simple stuff and keep the dogs knowing him and the office staff. But I do very much appreciate your input.
