I imported a 4 month old GSD in last week to the US from Holland, we had our checkup and even though she has had 3 parvo/combo vaccines in Holland he recommended doing another series of 2 vaccines, 3 weeks apart as he said Parvo strains vary per area and this is safer than finding out the hard way. He is in NO WAY a vaccine pusher, and I trust his judgement wholeheartedly, but would like more insight on Parvo and if the strains are different per area and maybe also raise the question for others importing. Any insight on this would be great if anyone else has also heard this. Thanks

The strains of many bacteria and viruses are indeed different over the world. I too have imported pups and I always revaccinate, especially when pups have had only a single dose of a monovalent vaccine. I just imported pups from the Netherlands earlier this year and the vaccine the pups had been given varied from what is normally given in my area. They were revaccinated. Good luck.

I'm glad you both posted--I had no idea they varied! Thanks!
