Anybody have any suggustions for adding calories to a dogs diet without adding higher protien?

fat has no protein and plenty of calories - it ads plenty of flavor and no sugar.

dyne sounds good, have you used it? Does it cause loose stool? Thanks!

I used it on a few working labradors a while back. No loose stools and the dogs loved it. (smells like vanilla) I believe the greyhound racing people use it as that is where I origionally found out about it.

Beef fat would be my first choice,  or ground beef 70/30.

beef fat in natural for your dogs - all the sugar in dyne is not.

my dogs hated it.

I think chicken fat has the best composition, but too much corn fed chicken fat has high Omega-6.

I would also add a bit of fish oil to chicken fat.

I really don't know what precisely is chicken skin (how much lumpy fat is included in skin) but a dietary guide says one ounce of chicken skin has 8 grams of fat and 4 grams of (high quality) animal protein.

I assume chicken skin is skin from the breast area, with no major lumps of fat.

I am not concerned about too much protein.

I eat quite a lot of chicken and I also strip off all skin and nearly all lumpy fats. I eat only breast and lower part of legs.

I think a typical family of four will have enough chicken fat and skin for two GSDs' supplement.

Thank you for all the replies, going to try dyne first. Had a hard time finding beef fat....
