What are some of the different ideas and options available for swimming a dog that you guys can come up with. We have no pool, no lakes, basically live in the desert, anyone have any good ideas on what could be used to get the job done. Thanks in advance smiley

When you say "swimming a dog"? Are you talking of a dog swimming for like therapy or just for pleasure? To keep cool?

For pleasure/keep cool I do a few things; I either have a "puppy pool", but I'm going to upgrade it to a kiddies' pool this year, a sprinkler, heavy duty because Anastacia loves to bite it. Other times I take a hose attach a "stream" nozzle to it and secure it to my "tie out post" and then it shoots a stream out about two feet off the ground. Each dog takes a turn "chewing/biting" the stream or walking into it down to the nozzle. Then steps out of line and the next dog takes their turn.

Not sure if you have to conserve water where you're at but you could always make/build something? If you can't use a rubber membrane/pond material then build like a rectangle box. Line the inside with either a waterproof material or line with Plexiglas. Aquarium sealant at joints/corners and now you have a homemade pool.

When the temp hits a certain degrees I have an industrial fan turn on. If it is really hot and really humid a turn on a "misting system" you know like the football players have? A fan blowing a mist of water. Also, amusement parks have them at their parks.

I'm talking swimming for conditioning for shows and such. I do have doggie pools they love to cool off in the summer, but I'm looking for ideas for swimming for conditoning. Thanks for your ideas though :)

Any ponds around;  long line with life jacket on definitely;  or head to the ocean 3 times per week;  same thing, long line and life jacket enables them to tread water longer and smoother;  Better  conditioning time.  Biking on dirt road;  try your local intermediate school/high school around tract;  even possible try theraputic pool for dogs at different vet's;  some have them.  Maybe invest in jacuzzi yourself and use for treading a dog??coolNan
