Right now my dogs will eat hamburger meat and chicken. They will not eat liver or gizzards.
Can you give an example of what you feed your dog for raw feeding?

We have our own critters here. I feed alot of rabbit, deer, beef and chicken. However I am getting tired of raising meat chickens, they are gross!!!!! Our egg layers are clean and tidy birds. Don't know why the Rocks are so filthy and stinky... Rabbit is the favorite.

If I were going to the butcher what types of meats would I get?

I use ground meats; pork, beef, turkey, and chicken (when I can find ground chicken reasonable); others OK; I am trying out Honest Kitchen Preference (just add ground meat) soak for 10 minutes and feed; benefit is they have added vit's/minerals; chicken quarters, wings; mine aren't crazy about gizzards either but they will eat if I cut other stuff down; I have ground heart, liver, kidney made up from butcher and mine are OK with that; only use ground beef organ meat once or twice per week and a small amount; can't get green tripe anywhere other than ordering from greentripe.com, now I think I can get from Creston Meats. I use pork/beef neck bones regularly, mostly pork bones as are more available maybe a couple times per week; I buy london broil when on sale at $l.99/lb that is about the cheapest I can find that and give them maybe l/4/l/2 lb each as a meal + maybe ground organ meat or whatever else I can find. I try to find other beef reasonable but so far to no avail; mine also like country style pork chops (I don't give the bone in those) and I use if I need to add more meat/less bone; pork rib bones they love they are cut so they have medallion bone/meat and bone is soft; can't get rabbit reasonable, I use some fish but I poach lightly I don't give raw fish or I find canned Salmon (which is of course cooked) rinse and use that for their fish; also macarole canned; even can use tuna but I rinse all canned meats due to salt/sodium content. I don't really have access to meats raised on a ranch as I am in the city so have to rely on store bought meats, some meat markets, Walmart for chicken quarters and wings but I soak them also (maybe l/2 hour) at least rinse well. That is pretty much it. You can buy day old meat at some stores (like Albertsons has a section of pass the date meat but is of course still good or they could not sell; various types but mostly beef & pork. So far have not had any problems though. Best of luck, hope this helps with ideas Nan

missyfly....i buy knuckle bones for chewing they are a great price you can get about 30 pounds for $10-$12. and they are huge usually size of my both fists put together, I tried pork feet and my dogs loved it, so I may do that again (although i am not big of pig anything, they ate it like it was a candy) beef tails...they are pricey thought just a warning...I also buy beef ribs - good price and lots of soft tissue. I also buy pre cut chunks of bone with meat on it my butcher has it in freezer on a side in 10 pound bags at .79 cents a pound.
the best and cheapest mean i buy is once a year after thanksgiving, i buy huge turkeys at fraction of a cost (40 pounds for like $7.00) I buy 10-12 turkeys put them in a freezer and usually once a month defrost one, cut it into pieces (nasty and long process...my arms are ready to fall of by the time i am done) but that one turkey will last me like 2 weekends between 3 dogs...
ground beef is always good and chicken....but you already know that. :)
there is a post called "Freaking hell" where you can see some of the pieces my dogs get.

For bone in meats my dogs get chicken backs, chicken quarters whole fish andturkey necks. For boneless they get , Ground Beef, Beef heart, pork, Lamb, roast, steak, chicken breast, vension when available. Organs they get at least Beef liver and chicken kidney. Beef Liver, Kidney and spleen is better. Liver spleen kidney and lung rotation is even better than that.

Chicken backs, quarters and whole cut up at times. Turkey necks, thighs and whole cut up when on sale. Pork neck and riblets. Mutton pieces. Lamb or veal neck bones and the occasional beef knuckle bone. Rabbit on occasion, but a couple won't eat it. Then I feed beef, pork, and occasionally lamb heart. Beef liver or kidney. Poultry liver, hearts, gizzards (though I have a dog that won't touch poultry offal). Eggs from free range hens, organic yogurt, salmon oils. Every once in awhile tripe, though if I can stand it, I may start feeding it more often. Occasionally canned mackerel or sardines in water.
For treats they get hard boiled eggs, meat scraps, frozen berries, cheese, dried meats (that I make for training) and table scraps.
Oh and one of their favorites, chicken poop.

anything i can get my hands on that doesn't have a face, or fur! the more gross the better, lol. rabbit is definitely not liked, which is ok with me since it's expensive compared to everything else. i gave my gsd a rabbit head once, he tried to make friends with it. very strange, i guess it was the eyes.
i buy from farms and small processors rather than supermarkets or factory farmed meats. tripe is phenomenal; beef, buffalo, sheep, venison. i have picked up things like beef heads, pork heads, and lamb heads for others, though i don't feed them myself.
if anyone in nj/ny wants heads, eeew, let me know.

They way I got mine to eat the gizzards, hearts and liver was to put it in the food processor and mix it with the ground meat afterward. It really grosses me out so I get my husband to do it. Ewww
