naming of gsd - Page 1

hi, i am huge dog lover esp. german shepard.but recently when i started searching about gsd dogs

i found the naming and pedigree thing quite complex. i would like you wise dog breeder and gsd lovers to enlighten this novice gsd lover
 about the naming procedure.
i eagerly await response.

   I am not sure exactly what you are asking, but I will give you the little info I have...

   My male's name is Ruger vom Mittelwest...
     
   I chose Ruger because his breeder used the letter "R"..to designate that litter. In other words all of Ruger's littermates are names that begin with the letter "R"......

  Mittelwest is the name of the breeder's kennel...To the best of my knowledge all the litters bred by the kennel will have that name...Ruger's sire and dam also use ...vom Mittelwest...

  But....;)    I call Ruger, Prince, for sentimental reasons because my previous male was named King ....

                 Then, there are the names my husband calls him ;).....lol...lol...: )

     I call him Schutzy and Poo...for nicknames...: )

khistij are you referring to litter namings or the names of the dogs as per kennel name?

I have just ordered a new German Shepherd puppy. His litter is the 6th litter that our breeder has had so they have there kennel name first and then a name beginning with "F" that we get to choose. I chose Falcon because the German Shepherd I grew up had Falcon in his pedigree name. Our new puppy's name will be Maximus so if we couldn't have Falcon I would have Flamma to keep a gladiator theme.

Also I think my 6 year old shepherd is the best looking dog on this site. HEHEHE!!!
