LadyFrost

I went to my local butcher and he had a new guy working there from across the border, I usually know what I am getting and prices but this time I saw beef tails with nice amount of meat on them, so I asked “how much” he mumbled something and I caught ninety cents ….I thought, “ok, great price for a pound!” I bought  4…they are about 2 +/- pounds each. So about 60 pounds of meat and bones later I am walking out and wondering about the price..where did I go wrong on my calculation…got home…gave dogs tails pulled out a bad and looked at the sticker…and FREAKING HELL! Tails are $3.90 a pound NOT $0.90 totaling over $35.00 for just 4 tails….

Having non English speaker tell you price will make a difference between $8.00 and $35.00.

Watching my dogs close their eyes and enjoy every second of some beef organic certified some sort of overpriced “special” beef tails..PRICELESS!

Yes, oxtails are expensive here also, have watched ethnic markets for sales but to no avail.  I'll keep watching;  I also have the language barrier;  wished I spoke Spanish;  have been thinking about learning;  and only shop the markets when prices are posted behind window.  WOW:  hope the dogs enjoyed, pics are beautiful.  Sure looks like they loved them.  Nansmiley

thanks guys...i had my cam in my pocket post Softball game..Anyways live and learn...I did get a GREAT deal on knuckle beef bones, i think I paid $0.33..so that was good, and some pig feet (1st time trying see if they like them) and for almost 10 pounds of chicken legs for $5.00..overall not too bad except for the remainder of this week they will be getting their raw portion cut down a bit and more dog food.

not to change the subject or anything, but just wondering do you guys rotate your dogs in kennels? I mean when I say "cage" they know who is going where, but for boredom purposes and maybe to break things up do you guys put them into each others kennels for a change or not? I am contemplating on switch it up once a week thinking that this way its a different dog house, different setting, different location and smell... would it even matter or would they even care?...

corn is the main ingredient for horse, cow and chicken feed..........the more corn that is diverted from food into ethanol the higher the price will be..... and the more the rest of the world will riot because of starvation...........off the soap box now........

what happy, happy dogs!

I love oxtails....yummy.  No wonder your dogs are loving it too.  I can't belive you only paid $5 bucks for 10lbs of chicken feet.  Bargain :)
