The inaugural WUSV Universal Sieger competition in Linz, Austria is a World class event with World class competitors from our various peer countries planning attendance. Lance Collins and Gabi Hoffman will be representing the Canadians and the Germans are sending a top notch contingent as well.
This event is NOT catered toward working or show line. It is meant to showcase those who honor the totality of the breeding standards for the German Shepherd Dog. That so many in the U.S. give "lip service" only to this standard is a travesty and guarantees that too much of our breeding stock will continue to come from those countries with the discipline to breed only within the given standard.
We can agree or disagree on that "standard." But, as it is currently stands (and as a reminder) it requires titled parents, BH, AD, hips/elbows, working title, conformation rating, and Koer.
We have many fine breeders and exceptional trainers and teams "this side of the pond." I would strongly encourage some of you folks to consider these qualifying events as another opportunity to showcase on the World stage.
Sending a weak team to represent the United States due to apathy or misunderstanding of the quality of this event would be a huge shame. Gunther Diegel and a top judging contingent will hopefully see a sampling of our "best" V capable working teams and at least SG type conformation.

Both events are being held on Memorial Day weekend, and both afford entrants a chance to obtain that breed survey.
Supposedly, the reason that the Universal Sieger title goes practically begging each year is the difficulty of attending both the Sieger Show and the Nationals. Well, HERE is the opportunity, complete with the opportunity to compete internationaly. I would hate to see this event go begging.
