It's tax time againfrown and as I sit and go through hundreds of receipts, invoices and mountains of paperwork I have finally decided to get some management software. I would like to know if any other Breeders,Trainers,Kennel operators are using Kennel management software and if so,what which they are using and if they are happy with it.
Lost in paperwork in WA

there is no software out there which makes any sense. because no two kennels are run the same way. There is no streamlined process. So screw the software just do it your self

cheers

Well,it wasnt so much how  they are run as in the end we all have the same type of expenses .Dog food,Vet bills,vax/wormers,kennels,vehicle mileage, stud fees, office equipment,show/trial entry fees, etc, etc so what Im looking at is easy to use Software that will help keep me track these things better w/o going thru tons of paperwork.
However, after downloading a few trial versions,I think you are right Vikram, its so much easier to do it myself! But
If any Breeders, kennel operators, boarding facilities have a program they just love and swear by, I would like to hear about itsmiley

I recently went for Sage Simply Accounting for tracking my expenses and income to Quickbooks Pro. I am still getting used to QB, but I can already say this: it doesn't have the annoying glitches SA has!  SA was a PITA!!

The trick is to keep on top of stuff: enter your expenses and income monthly, then you won't have a huge hassle come tax time.

Yeah...I should talk...I'm three months behind right now!  crying

It also helps a great deal to have an accountant to show you how to set things up for record keeping. My cousin is a CA, and she did this for me. Once everything is in the right place, plugging the numbers into the tax form is a snap.

Okay, she's STILL after me to record my business mileage every time I go shopping. I'm not so good about that, and usually wind up estimating it, by looking at what stores I shopped at, the googling the mileage on Google Earth!

I wish I could integrate the whole system, but until I can customize an invoice the way I need it, with spaces for vaccinations, dog's age, things the owner is leaving with them (food, toys, bedding) that won't be happening. Though I have scanned my reservation form and waiver onto the computer, so I can print up copies whenever I want. The previous owners actually went to a copy place in town, and had photocopies made. They didn't even OWN a scanner!

Slowly, slowy, I'm dragging this place into the 21st century....smiley
