For those of you who were interested in ordering ovulation pads from an earlier thread I would strongly suggest that you order them from a local site in the US. They are made by Wysong and can be ordered from Revival Animal at a price less than the ones advertised on the British site. I had an unpleasant experience with the owner of the British site who seems to think that because the pads that I ordered never arrived that it's my problem, not hers. We are currently in claim status with paypal. The first order arrived in a timely manner but that last order is nowhere to be found.

Somehow I missed that other thread. Could you explain to me exactly what ovulation pads are and what they are used for? Thank you.

They are called ovulation pads on the British site and estrus test strips on the Revival Animal web site. They are small pads that allow you to determine when a female dog is ovulating so that you can breed her at the right time. You insert them into the vulva and allow them to soak up the fluids and if the female is ovulating they will change color. Compared to the cost of a progesterone test these test strips are much less expensive and the process can be done in your home as opposed to going to a vet for a progesterone test.

Do they really work? Has anyone else used them?
by TeMar on 27 March 2011 - 02:03
Yes, I used them on 3 of our females, they worked perfectly. I also ran progesterone to check the strips, there were right on. FAR less expensive then progesterone test it'll save me a fortune

I used the ones from revival animal on a female that had failed to breed succesfully on several occasions with the previous owner. The estrus strip said yes eventhough the typical signs we look for said no. I went with the strip and the result was 6 healthy pups. Never took her in for progesterone test.

We used them for 1 female.......progesterone said "breed now"......strips said...."not ovulating".
Waited 3 more days...strip said "ovulating"...waited 2 more days..then did breeding. .....7 healthy babies!
*If we bred when progesterone said...it would have been a little too early.....glad we waited.
