A 4 month old very angulated gsd puppy displays a slight limp on rear right leg and bunny hopping but shows no sign of pain. He will chase the ball, will climb stairs, will jump and enjoys exercising. Not sure if it a sign of displasia or looseness of joint because he's a puppy. Does anyone have any experience with a similar condition? And if so, what was the outcome.

4 months is young could be normal. post a video if you can. wouldn't hurt to bring the pup to vet for exam and xray

Hi Rykie, The bunny hopping is a sign that it could be dysplasia. My pup was limping and bunny hopping at 4.5 months and I thought that it might be that she of pulled a muscle and that with some time will heel. She was diagnosed with HD at 5 months of age and if your pup is limping there is some pain. So take her to your vet and do an x-ray for your own peace of mind. My girl was OFA S.H.D. She had her femoral head removed. Good luck to you and your pup.

Rykie not to scare you but that how it started with my dog..and she showed no sign of pain..ran like crazy went on 6 hrs hikes w/o resting...but once in a while she would bunny hop..or sometimes after long walks would not put all of her weight on one leg..grunted sometimes when got up in the morning..even when i took her to the vet 1st time she said..i dont see her limping..no she looks fine..a month later she noticed muscle loss...recommended x rays thinking she had ACL...anyways...i had x rays done...see results under "Baileys Frost X rays"...she is only 10.5 months..i noted limp almost 2 months ago.......results are worse than i or my vet expected...i would get x rays done...at least you will know.
