Wow. I try to pay .39 a pound for chicken leg quarters....but that has not happened in awhile so I am paying .59 cents a pound right now. In late spring there will be a meat sale and I hope to pick up at least 100lbs for .19 cents a pound (at least that is what the meat guy told me it will go for). Guess chicken is in higher demand right now.

Leg quarters. .59 per lb. Sometimes on sale for .49 per lb. Great sale at .39 per lb. 10 lb bags.

.60 cents per pound for leg quarters at Wal Mart in 10 lb bags; do not use necks/backs ususally but did find a 10 lb sack of necks/backs at Latino market for $3.90 so 39 cents per pound, thigh/drumsticks seem pricey for what they are so I don't use, if need be I cut apart leg quarters of skin for my old girl as sometimes quarters are too large for her wasteline.
How about beef prices and any large game meats for variety?? I can't seem to find that; Sometimes I find beef shank for $1.49lb; that is about the best I can find. No goat, elk or anything exotic though, really hard to find. Have great days everyone, Nan

Be careful with the Walmart chicken. It is very high in sodium. One of my girls does not handle it well at all and needs very low sodium chicken.
I buy the Gold Leaf brand, which is low sodium. It's around 50 cents per pound and comes in a 10 lb bag. To me, the bags are easier to deal with than a 40 lb box. The boxes aren't that much cheaper, so its worth the extra pennies for the bagged chicken.

Great, thanks for the tip Ramage; I'll check it out. Why can't they leave stuff alone?? Sodium, not happy; I do soak for a hour or more before I feed that might help a little.
I have also found good prices on whole chickens which contain the innards also which makes it a good buy. and NO the chicken(s) are not organic. Wished I had a good source for that though, may look into that. Thx Nan

I pay about 55 cents a pound by the 40 lb case, but sometimes a little less--and that is leq quarters. Ramage, that means four ten-pound bags.
