So, I know what I think about the subject, but I want to see what you guys think.  A guy on another forum is 100% convinced that two male Great Danes that are mature.....can't get along. This same guy also thinks you should feed chocolate to your dogs,  believes in doing dog rescue but says it's okay for everyone to have a just because litter, and thinks Purina is a high quality food. He claims he has trained dogs for 24 years, but 95% of the advice he has given to people on the other forum....well, it's really bad and would cause more issues in most cases.   Anyway, I know from experience and from others that certain owners CAN have two males together, two females, etc. I have two mature, un neutered males together, not Danes, but still. He is convinced that you can't have to mature males or females...Great Danes together.  Though I've seen video online of male Danes playing together, living together, etc.......and doing a quick search I saw on another forum people who have mature males together, etc.  I just wanted to get other "trainers" view on this. I'm in a rush, I've got to go somewhere so a lot of this may not make as much sense as I wanted, and I kind of threw it together.....anyways, comments.?

You can have two males or females together in some cases, but not all.
I have my male rott and shepherd that dont get along and hate eachother, but they are very dominant males.
same with females, some do get along but some dont.

Naumk9, I agree that some do and some don't, not to mention I believe some, who are even more dominant can exist with others as long as the owner has the no how and can control the dog.......but this guys point is that it is literally impossible for ANY two male Great Danes or females, to get along. He claims that, that breed is different from others and it is impossible.

My mom and daughter are jetting along fine. The mom has separation anxiety and cries when her daughter is missing. The daughter is now 27 months old.

Mine are soft pets only.

Before, I had two Rhodesian Ridgeback litter sisters who got along well for 14 years.

It all depends on the dogs in question

I have a dutch shepherd female that gets along with everyone cats included  but my shepherd female and male can not stand her. So they do not run together.

My Mali and my Shepherd male could not run together

My two female shepherds can

we do a lot of rotating in my house :)

I have two adult males and four females-I demand tolerance between them and that's what I get-not without some minor grumbling between my dominant female and the 14 month old at times--the only time the dogs are kept seperate is when I have to be away for an extended period.

Does he train for people well he calls it training... in Texas? About six months ago had a run in with an idiot like that on a forum and he had great danes and considered himself the king of ppd training for people down in Texas.

2 males or 2 females can live peacefully together, depending on the dogs themselves and the owner's ability to be in control.

I have had 2 females living in my house (3 at one point in time). They are both 6 years old now and have been living together for 4 years. Neither are altered. We have only ever had 2 incidents, both while I was under high stress.... they knew I wasn't in charge so one of them had to be. They are loose together in the house 100% of the time.
Each of the times an issue arose with the 2 of them, they were immediately put on pinch collars and worked for a good hour side by side just to remind them that I'm in charge and I don't take that crap. After they're worked, they are allowed back together. The last incident was around 2 years ago.

There are some males that can not live together just the same as there are females that can't live together.

This guy sounds like a quack with a capital Q.

Thanks for the comments guys. You guys stated what I thought, I just wanted to see what you guys had to offer, and your experiences.  I have a couple of un altered males here, and have brought others over here at times without problems.  They all know I won't accept any nonsense as well. I even sent this guy a video of four Danes playing together....one obviously had a litter or was getting closer to having one.....and two males were obviously not altered....I couldn't tell if the other one was a male or female since they were running so much. But all were mature adults, happy as a lark, just loving the land they could run and play on. He would never comment about that video no matter how many times I asked, he just kept telling me to contact Dane breeders he knew and they would tell me it's not possible.....

EKvonEarnHardt, just curious who is that pup in your picture? I've seen that picture for a while, is that one of your pups? I agree though, that it depends on the dogs in question. He claims that it is not possible for any! To me that's like he is saying that every Great Dane on the face of the earth is always in a dominant or aggressive mindset.......Some people also say "Huskies" are on the top 10 dangerous breed list,  I beg to differ.  I always say, some people are their own expert, and will never seek advice of others.

GSDNewbie, he lives in Florida....I'm honestly not sure where he use to live though. Almost all of his advice to others worries me though, and others on the board as well. I thought he was a troll at the end of last year when he joined because of the grammar errors, mixed up words, and crazy advice. Some others did as well.

melba, I agree completely with the ability of the owner to control part as well.  Certain dogs are just....too much for certain owners to handle, even if it's just the one dog by itself. It depends on the owner and their abilities and know how.

Trained plenty of Danes over the years. Households with multiple males and multiple females, far more of them get along than not.  As long as the personalities match and the owner has some sense and is in charge, shouldn't be a problem. Most Great Danes are big old goofballs.

So, do you pour the chocolate over the Purina? Sounds like a great formula for weaning that "just because" litter.
