I have been looking up dogs that are said to be OFA certified <not the prelims> and cannot find any of them and yes they are spelled correctly. Is there an issue with the dogs being added to it? Some of these dogs were done years ago according to some owners websites. Many of them are marked as OFA certified on the pedigrees on here, but when I look them up they are not listed.

I could be wrong but unless the owner requests that passing results are left private, they are automatically posted.  If the animal failed, OFA requires permission of the owner prior to passing.

Many smart, responsible breeders are posting links to OFA's database.  That way you can see it for yourself.

It is also nice to see all the close relatives and their information.

This confirms my thinking on both posts. I would have to think seeing OFA excellent on a pedigree on here the person would be proud enough to allow it listed with OFA if it is true. So I am assuming it is inncorrect.

I too believe in posting the OFA numbers for the results.  Here is how I have it posted on my boy's pedigree:

http://www.acdpedigree.com/cgi-bin/geneal.cgi?op=tree&index=51244&gens=5&db=all.dbw

I do not see why results of excellent would not be posted on the OFA website.  Particularly since out of over 100K GSDs evaluated only 3.8% have excellent hips.

Exactly that is why it struck me as so strange and I do not think I would have been as suspicious if it has been labled good.

I don't believe OFA ever had an "owners permission" for posting passing results.  I think those have always automatically gone into the online database.  It was the non-passing scores that didn't appear, but which the owners now have the option of having show up.  So if someone is claiming OFA passing status, and the dog doesn't show up in a search, their claim is suspect.

From the OFA website

Historically, only normal results from data submitted to the OFA were reported in the public domain
(semi-open databases). The OFA now provides owners the choice of reporting information in an open
database. The open database provides all information, normal and abnormal, in the public
domain.
If your animal received an abnormal result and you would like to release that information to the public
domain, please complete the form below. This would happen most commonly with abnormal results
received prior to January 2000, or on forms where owners did not check the box to release information
to the public but who have now decided to do so.

On the flip side, sometimes the names are in the DB misspelled, other times they are in there linked to a registration number you aren't using for the search.  For example I had an import who I OFA'd, they linked him to his SCC number, so when people did searches on him it didn't show any of his offpspring as being OFA'd, because the offpspring were in there using his AKC or UKC number to link back.  If someone had tried to find him that way, he wouldn't have shown up, until I contact OFA and had them link all the numbers together.

You are right Malndobe, I got the permission to post poor results confused with permission to not post passing results :-)

I double checked the name of the bitch elsewhere to verify before I made this thread that there was no error.

That site is a pain in the butt to get anything to show up. One character can mess it up, they capitalize "vom" and "von" sometimes and that's enough not to find it, or a million other reasons I can't figure out. The only way I've ever found anything was to just put ONLY the kennel name, ie, "Eisenherz" and see what you get.

Ok, now I just checked my dog and it showed up first time, which I have NEVER been able to get it to do when inputting the whole name. So, maybe they changed something and it's better now. I just know I have looked for dogs I know for a fact are certified and couldn't get them to show up.
