Hello. I'm looking to buy a Dobermann, I thought I had found my dream kennel but now I'm looking at the pedigree of the female that is pregnant with my hope to be pup.

I'm not very knowlegable on the Doberman.

The female in question is 8 turning 9 at the end of this year and she has had succseful litters.

Her father : 1998 -2002 (Death cause: DCM)

Her grandfather (on the father's side) 1994 - 2000 (Death cause: DCM)

His mother:1991- 1996 (Death cause: DCM)

What do you think? This seems to be only on the father's side....

I am guessing DCM is the abbreviation for Cardiomyopathy?  If so, this is a very serious problem in the Doberman breed.  What health screenings is this particular breeder doing to prevent this disease?  There are several tests that are available to the Doberman community to work towards eliminating this disease.  Check out the Doberman Club website www.dpca.org/

I'd look at Wendy's kennel, Landgraf, for a working Dobe. I think if you look at her website, she has two nice breedings coming soon.

Escobar, not trying to pick on you, but it is just a Dobermann. You spelled it 3 different ways and it is not a "pincher". There is, however, a German Pinscher. Hate to see a good breeder turn you down just because you spelled it wrong in an email.

Thank you Don. I hate spelling errors, so I appreciate the correction :)

I do not know that much about the breed but if you have a genetic problem that is being carried forward knowingly as this looks like then you have a breeder that is not doing the breed any good and is being very irresponsible.  I would definately stay away from this line and look elseware. There are many good breeders that take pride and care in what they do.  Go to someone that is doing it correctly.

Yeah.
I've talked to my co-workers, I work at a animal hospital and I'm not taking my chances.

Which sucks because I've been looking for so long and it's hard finding a breeder that breeds the way I like and breeds what I like ....

Smart decision. Kepp looking and you will find the right dog. After looking at the origional post you made I see this is carried on both the sire and dame of the girl. That should say everything right there. Stay away
