Chances are two of the digits are misread. It's a 7 digit tattoo which indicated a USA tattoo, but the 4 and 9 don't look right. Check the 9 especially and post what you find.

I suspect the female is a young dog not more than 14 months old from a kennel that is not more than 2 years old.

I think you can contact the United Schutzhund Clubs of America (USCA) for the German Shepherd and find out if they have that kennel tattoo registered with them.  I think he's saying it's a registered USCA kennels tattoo, and you could find the kennels that dog comes from, if it is.

I have contacted the GS schutzhund, and the #'s are not correct per them.
This is however what the new owner says that is in the ear.
I know of all the current codes and have tried those groups.
The dog was found in GA and the #s in the tattoo have GA, but if they are not listed and just done by someone themselves. Its difficult to find.checked with shelters also. no luck

Hence the reason why tattoos are not fool proof.

The 7 digit tatto code is unusual. I'll bet it's a USA code that was misread. It's your best chance of identification. 9G is not a USA kennel code. If the 9 was misread and it's actually a letter, USA can probably identify the breeder and you have a path to follow. For those that don't use a recognized tattoo code. Here's an example of why you should.

The UScA does not issue tattoo codes anymore. They say to just make one up and send it in.
I just went through getting my pup tattooed.
