I have seen a few posts here on Ceasar Milan and Victoria Stillwell, however I have not seen any on Vctoria Wells, ASPCA's Manager of Shelter Behavior and Training.  In my opinion, of these three she seems to be the least in tune with dog bevaior, but at the same time seems to have a high profile place in educating the public about dogs.  She also seems to have the least hands on training experience of the three, yet is the only one with the power to euthanize dogs on a regular basis.  Nothing make me more angry than when she uses the fake rubber hand to check to see if a dog is food aggressive.

I don't know her, but, I agree about the tests they perform.
I could get almost any well bred, well trained and well mannered dog to fail many of those tests given the right circumstances.
I wrote a long email 4 or 5 years ago to many rescue contacts here in Illinois about these tests and how I do not believe they should be the end all-be all for deciding who lives and doesn't live.
Rigid rules don't fit every situation.

Anyone's thoughts where letters should be submitted that would be the most effective in exposing the inexperience of people like Victoria Wells?

I WOULD LIKE TO SEE HER USE HER OWN HAND TO SEE IF A DOG IS FOOD AGGRESSIVE!!!!

I worry about people like her more than the entertainer trainers like Milan and Stillwell because folks like Wells are actually asked to form opinions public policy.  She is seen as more than an entertainer because of her ASPCA affiliation and in the long run can't do anything but cause harm.  There are lots of videos of her on Youtube and Animal Planet doing absolutely ridiculous behavior evaluations.

Not too many thoughts on Victoria Wells? I guess she is easily missed with Ceasar and Stillwell in the limelight. You can see quite a few video clips of her on the animal planet website. Well's was in a TV show called Animal Precint that ran from 2001 to 2008.  Apparently she is one of Animal Planets go-to consultants and serves on a few advisory committees in the NYC area as well.

She is the one that has the odd hair streaks that are purple and such.  She is frightening in that she has that kind of power.  We had a similar incident at our local animal control with the supervisor doing the "temperment testing" and giving his stamp of approval on a dog that ended up severely biting several children that came to the DAYCARE.  There were other dogs with problems this idiot missed.  Thank goodnesss he was finally fired after numerous dogs were homed that should have had more training and more than a few were sold to Class B dealers or other people looking for a specific breed that belonged to generally good owners who had the unfortunate case of broken collar/dog rushed out of house/jumped out of car at the park/etc (true accidents)He said the dogs were "vicious" and were euthanized, it wasn't until later that the records showed what he did (idiot kept his own account books showing deposits from dealers, he had an OCD streak about money).  These dogs were Goldens, Labs, and Beagles that went to the labs.  GSDs, Rotties, Malmutes, Yorkies, and other pure breds went to those willing to pay him for a young "purebred"Milan is the worst in my book of the three.

Yes, she is the one with the purple hair

As I pointed out, government officials and advisory committee's don't ask for Milan's opinion, but at one time they were asking Victoria Wells.  Thats why I view him simply as an entertainer with a poor message.

He and the others have done for real dog trainers what CSI did for real forensic science, made it where people expect the same results in real life that they see on television.
