Hi Everyone,

I am getting my GSD Puppy soon and I am so excited that I couldn't wait to start shopping for goodies for him.

It's been 10 years since we had a puppy in the house.

So I'm in Petco looking at puppy collars and toys.... and as Im' squeezing and stroking the toys several thoughts run thru my mind like,
Is this puppy safe? Is this one too hard or that one cuddly enough or is the squeeker load enough?

Then I remember Bernard Flinks saying in a seminar not to get toys that squeek or are soft beacuse they encourage chewing of the dumb bell.

Argh,... I am sure he meant for older pups but I did not ask him at what age you should stop getting those types of toys for your puppies.

What types of toys do you give to your 8 week and older puppies?

Also, I bought him an adjustable collar 8-14inches will this be big enough for him at eight weeks?

Thanks guys,
C

Hi ck29,
Have you left Petco yet or are you still shopping lol.
I would separate one or two toys for special rewards and the rest perhaps for your puppy to entertain on her/ his own in a secured pen.  You can't be starring at the pup whole day?!?  Could you lol.

Awaiting pictures :)

The best chew toy that I bought for my GSD puppy was a naturally shed deer antler. It was about $22 CDN but it is still going strong 4 months later. It's a great in the house chew toy since it doesn't make a mess.

I like the green soft puppy knog with the loop at the end later on you can put a rope on the loop to throw if far if the pup has any retrieve instincts.
