http://www.causes.com/causes/397129-make-animal-abuse-a-felony It just sickens me, how some people will pretend to care about animals and open up some sort of kennel or dog sitting service, just so they can abuse animals. This is no different than a paedophile becoming a teacher so he/she has access to kids. This is what was done to my dog. Please, do not click on the link unless you have a strong stomach. http://www.inselpix.com/images/carebear/dog2.jpg

The problem with anything like this is that most of the calls the AC gets are not abuse, but someones perception of abuse.

I have no answers, but I do understand how badly this could go for people that are not abusing at all. I had the AC called on me a few years back when I was out with my dog playing with a stick. He was to the point where I wanted to see if he would hold a down or a sit if I faked throwing the stick.

The AC told me that they had a call that I was beating the dog with a stick. I was no where close to him, and was being goofy and doing head fakes and wiggling and faking throwing the stick.

You make this a felony, and it might have ended up where they would have taken my dog and had him evaluated by some AC "expert" ( you know, the same ones that test shelter dogs by sticking fake rubber hands in their dish while they are eating ) and then what ?

Someone else acts like they are going to hit him with a stick, they are going to get hurt. Then my dog has to be put down for this, and all because of "perception"

I understand that horrible things should be punished, but who is the driving force behind these laws ? There really are wack jobs that think that animals should run free and pet ownership should be abolished. They have been chipping away at laws for years and years. What they do is working.

The thought behind this is a good thought, but the actual application will be a disaster.

Another example of good idea, bad application.

Some years ago Patrick Roy was taken from his home for domestic violence. The only problem was there was no domestic violence occurring. He was mad about something and kicked a closet door and was yelling. The police showed up, and in domestic violence cases, based on the neighbor calling, he was taken to jail. Colorado law requires that someone is taken in.

The charges were dropped, and his wife told what happened, but basically, he was mad about something which had nothing to do with her, he wasn't mad at her, and she was not even in the room with him, and he was taken from his house.

This is what I see happening if these kinds of laws are passed. I might be a bit intense, and I use the f word a lot, but as an adjective and not at people, but I believe in God. These people will get their due.

Yes, but my dog had a broken jaw and bleach poured in his eyes. The SPCA had the gall to say that was not animal abuse.

Anyone who puts forth the effort (and it takes A LOT OF EFFORT) doesn't do it JUST to get to abuse animals!  I have had both endeavors you mentioned above and I have several high profile clients in and around my community and it is a labor of love and alot of times there is MORE love and labor involved than financial compensation.....that's the way the ball bounces and the wagging tail is enough to make my day alot of times!

How did the dog in your picture get matted like that so bad?  That doesn't happen over night or in the course of a week or so....

this is stupid..........

@sitasmom My dog being abused is nto stupid. @powerhaus When the dog is left at the hands of an abuser, it doesn't take long for a dog to be seriously screwed up.

On the world wide web, it's hard to know truth from deciet, lies, treachery etc.. All I hope, is that this dog is truly yours, the pictures are truly yours, the case is truly yours, and that  you are pursuing this case against the perps that did this. Personally, a forum (with fickle, ill-meaning people, waiting like snipers on roof tops) this is the last place you want to voice your case. MPO...don't hang around here to garner sympathy from many. If you're ill-intentioned...you will be smoked out. If you're intentions are good....take it to the authorities. I feel for you (if your pictures are real). Regardless, the picture (via link you posted) of that dog is horrible. So sad.

Well, I owned a Grooming salon and boarding kennel and I KNOW a dog does not get in that condition in 3 to 4 or even 6 weeks time.  I have groomed dogs that were that bad and they either had never seen a groomer or it had been almost a year.  Even the Austrailian lady that had a maltese puppy mill situation that I shaved her dogs every 4 months didn't get that bad.........just sayin......
