HELP WANTED : Irregular Heat Cycle - Page 1

Hi there, my 5 yr old female GSD usually comes on heat between 5-6 months intervals. Her last cycle ended in June last year and she is yet to come on her next cycle. By calculations, she is about 2 months late. She showed signs of pre-menstrous cycle such as heavy shedding about a month and half ago but has yet to come on heat (no bleeding). Prior to this, she had a unsuccessful breeding session in June last year. Could this be related?? Can anyone explain why? Tks

I don't know that there is an explanation for this but I have had a similar experience with several females of mine and quite a number of my breeder friends are having the same issues.  I wouldn't worry too much at this stage of the game if I were you. I'm sure she will come in shortly.   I have one female who cycles 5-6 months and then after a litter cycles 8-9 months and some others cycle longer for no apparent reason. 

I tried to piece together any commonality when I heard of lengthy cycles, like the same food, geographic locations etc and came up with nothing that would point to a cause. It is happening to some friends of mine in Europe also.
