PERMISSION GIVEN TO CROSSPOST
- 14 YEARS OLD - IMPOUND ID #A4238213 - Carson Shelter - EXTREMELY URGENT
YOGI was dumped in the shelter by his owners who said, "he can hardly
walk." He is 14 YEARS OLD, geriatric, and has hip dysplasia. He has
trouble getting up and moving around. If nothing else this guy
deserves to be given some love, a delicious meal and then taken to a
vet for a humane and dignified euthanasia. His due out date is Feb. 10
which means it is likely he will have to stay in the shelter for at
least 5 more days in pain and discomfort. Someone please help
Yogi...my heart breaks as I look at his photo.

I just know someone will go and get this sweet boy and take him home, give him a warm blanket and lots of love...
SHAME on his owner, he does not deserve to own a dog.

I'm a licensed euthanasia tech and I can't even tell you how many animals I have held and comforted in their last hours before putting an end to their misery. I always felt that they deserved to feel loved and cared for even if it was their last days. Some never even felt that before which made it even harder because you know it is the most attention they have ever felt in their lives.
Most places are legally able to euthanize right away if it is an owner turn in and not wait out the holding period. What I find a little disturbing is that this old guy has no bedding in his kennel to relieve some of his discomfort. He should be made as comfortable as possible and he does NOT look comfortable.I don't care how many years I have seen cases like this....it still breaks my heart. I always told my employees the day you stop caring about these guys and it doesn't bother you that you are taking their lives is the day you should walk away from your position.
