I am wondering what colors I will get from this mating,
Sire carries black gene, I'm pretty sure the dam does not carry black gene...

If she's sable/blacktan and he's sable/black, you'll get
sable/sable (typically a grey sable with some light toemarks and tarheels)
sable/black (dad's color)
sable/blacktan (mom's color)
blacktan/black ("blanket back" b/t)

The dam more then likely carries black and tan and assuming this, the combos are as follows...
Sable/sable, sable/black, sable/black and tan, black and tan/black
Melissa
Sable/sable, sable/black, sable/black and tan, black and tan/black

So are you saying that the black/tan will be blanket or bi-color....

by melba on 05 February 2011 - 17:02
Highly doubtful a true bi-color will result from this breeding.
Blanket black and tan is the best bet.
