From Shawlein:
10. Brindle B&T
I can't resist mentioning the brindle, which was one of the founding patterns of the breed and seems to have become extinct. The brindling gene affected the tan ground, so that B&T's and bicolours showed a dark striping or marbling (the same effect seen in brindle boxers) over the tan which was not at all unattractive. I wouldn't hazard to guess what a brindle marked sable would look like. Hopefully, if the pattern somehow reappeared, it would not be discarded as atypical.

I think that female pup is a rich pigmented red sable.

I agree with Jyl. Try this on your sable: comb her coat deeply with your fingers spread apart. You will get a pattern that appears to be brindle. Unless you think there's a decent chance a Dutch Shepherd got to a dog close up in that pedigree, its a sable.

No chance of a Dutchie even remotely "close" in that breeding. Whatever she is, she's gorgeous and I think she's going to be a really nice red sable- that comes from Arko. "K" litter vom Linmarc had a GORGEOUS red bitch; I couldn't believe it until I saw her in person. You can see from the washed out grass, that this pic is actually too low contrast; she is even redder in person.

On the other hand, maybe she's a mutt and if so, I will take her and find her a good home.

Thanks for the responses! Yes, she is a sable....no matter what. Just that pattern stood out to me as its different. I got my eyes on her, not because of the pattern, but because of her big head/muzzle, legs...and her pushiness. She is like a bulldozer, pushing everything aside thats in her way. Made herself a name already: "Watch out, here comes fatsy!" LOL

A shepherd at a club I trained at had what appeared to be the recently-bathed-and-brushed looking stripes running horizontal along her side and thigh. Her owner said, though, that she permenantly had these stripes. I never asked if she was born with them, but her coat patturn was very unique.
Nice looking pups. Can you tell at a week old which pup is going to have a big head?
