Has this movie ever been released? jackie harris

by sueincc on 24 January 2011 - 15:01
Yes, it has been released, though limited due to funding issues and finding places willing to play it. It is NOT a children's movie, not a family film. I saw it at a film festival, thought it was well done. Of course, I had also read the memoirs by Ackerly, (which is considered a classic by many), so I knew what to expect.
Here are some theatres it's playing in http://speakery.com/mydogtulipfilm/screenings/

Oh, dear. I remember getting that book out of the library when I was a little girl and would read all the dog books I could get my hands on. Parts of it were, uh, odd. But the animation in that trailer you linked to is exquisite.

Yes, I first it as a child too. The animation is amazing. After the screening there was a question and answer period with Paul and Sandra Fierlinger, the husband and wife team that directed the movie. Also Mr. Fierlinger is the one who drew all the animation and his wife is the one who did all the painting. They mentioned that they were worried that some of the what was in the memoirs would be too shocking, but in the end felt it was more important to remain true, and honor Ackerly, the author, who wrote his great and touching memoir in the 50s.

Here is a site (moviefone) where you can find out if the movie is playing near you by entering your zipcode, & the date you wish to see the movie. The site I listed previously has not been updated, apparently.
