Edited by GSD.

If you feel you have been scammed or bought a dog who did not live up to the contract, then you do have options.

One is to go to small claims court in your own locale.
Secondly, there are internet sites like ripoffreports.com where you can post your grievances.
and there is a third option, http://www.gsconsumerreports.org/

It used to be that this site served out good and proper warnings, but one moderator has chosen to constantly delete any reference to certain breeders. I could care less. If people are silly enough to buy from unethical people they will end up with paying the "price". All I can say, as most ethical people here have said for a long time is DO YOUR HOMEWORK.

Hodie, you mentioned the "newbies buying" thread on the GSD side.  It was informative.  Here it is again.

Thanks for finding it animules........Mystere and a lot of people contributed and it ought to be a staple around this place for all the shenanigans that go on.

I sincerely hope that the "Buyer Beware " thread does not end up deleted after the fact, or edited into asininity.

I agree with everyone here.  One useful purpose that this site served besides pedigree research was the ability to warn people of scammers.  It seems that service has been nullified and this site no longer has the ability or cares to protect it's members from known scammers.  It is really ridiculous.

I hear you, Slamdunc, I really do, and I think Oli is trying to figure it out. But there have been so many lies told on this board about breeders that I'm not surprised that the only way to stop the lying is to only allow things that are legally substantiated.  There are a few other animal boards I'm on, involving horses, too, and that policy is par for the course on all of them.

As usual, a few bad apples on this board ruined it for the people with legitimate grievances who want to help the rest of us.

Maybe this will result in people who have true problems taking real action against these scammers and then posting that for all to see.  That would really be a benefit.  I hope it happens.

This site sure saved me the grief of making an uneducated or illogical purchase a few years back. I was fortunate to make contact with Ulli for a wonderful import! It was amazing, since the owner spoke no English and I speak no German. Since then, Jim has provided much personal education here. I understand the concerns about hearsay and potential for litigation, but seriously, when there is a known, proven scam, it makes sense to warn folks.

"but seriously, when there is a known, proven scam, it makes sense to warn folks."

But the pdb still does that. Like in the recent OH Flinks seminar. The link to public records was left up. Or the links to DDR-DSH.  If something is proven, there will be record of it, and looks like that record can be put up here.

Tess,
Go back and check the posts regarding the seminar in Ohio.  Most if not all of the responses were deleted.  Last I saw Bob's post was still up with the link to the ripoffreport.com; I think that was left because no one commented or the comments were deleted.  The mods did nothing to stop that seminar, quite the opposite,
deleting the posts on that thread were inappropriate.
