This is an 11 week old Czech/west german male pup. What do you think of his conformation?

by NigerDeltaMann on 22 January 2011 - 07:01

The first sure visible thing about this pup's that it's "big-boned", but i'm not too Ok with it's backlegs, except they're altered by its posture of settings. Good coat/colour as far as in the post. Generally, the pup is ok, except it would grow to something different. However, good pedigree, good feeding and good exercise regime may finally determine your pups future...Cheers for goodluck.

Ibrahim, Hope you're ok. Critique this working(i guess) pup.

by Ibrahim on 22 January 2011 - 12:01

He looks nice but I think the picture does not do him good so it would be difficult to come up with a critique. In regards to pigment sables usually go through different stages of color changing during maturing, at the moment color looks faint but final color won't be reached till after at least a year old. The very visible are the good bones and maybe the feet.

This boy reminds me of some of the Hessel pups I know, looks like he'll be a red or tan patterned sable as an adult.
I see you tried to stack him right by holding his rear leg at a perfect 90 degree angle to the ground, good job on that, the other rear leg needs to be slightly under him a little more, just so the foot is directly under the knee and hip.   The croup seems to lay nicely, however the back just before the hip is higher than his whithers, possibly because he's scrunching himself because he's feeling weird being stacked.
His shoulders are hard to judge correctly because his legs are not standing straight, but I think his upper arm may be short, making him have a straight elbow.   It's a little hard to judge the lengths of bone in his rear legs, but they seem fine to me.
Overall I think his whole rear structure is nice, he definitely has nice bone, he has low whithers and a short upper arm.   Altogether I think he's a handsome boy.

Thank you for the comments on him. I will try and get a better stacked picture of him this weekend. I was the one behind the camera. He is a pup from my current litter that I am keeping.
When I get another few pictures of him stacked I will post them. I will also try and get some ones of him free stacked, if possible. It isnt easy taking pictures of an 11 week old pup standing still.... lol

I will be looking forward to the new pictures.

Hi Jyl,

He's a lovely pup..

He's got good bone , very good proportions,
a good croup, good front and hind angulations,
with good hocks. Good depth of chest.

BUT--------All of this will change.
He is just too young to be critiqued.

Tell us more of his character and temperament  and why did you pick him.

Overall the dog seems to healthy and full of energy. :) I think he's a great dog to have just like my pomeranian.  How is she now?

He's adorable! Very huggable, with a cute kissy face. Four big fat furry paws & a nice thick, thrashy tail, perfect to whip your crystal right off the table!!
Jyl, he looks wonderful, when he's a little older we'll get serious with the critique! For now he looks perfectly lovable & a lot of fun! (And a little uncomfortable with the whole picture taking process....ears back, head turned away, back hunched....like, "Do I have to? Really? Well then, get it over with!" LOL) jackie harris
