So this was circulating around facebook:
There's a site called Spokeo.com that's a new online USA phone book w/personal information: everything from pics you've posted on FB or web, your approx credit score, home value, income, age, even credit card #'s. Remove yourself by searching your name, find your page, copy the URL and then go to the bottom of the page and click on the Privacy link to remove yourself.
It is ABSOLUTELY TRUE. I searched myself, it listed our home number, even though it is not in my name, how many children live in my home (scary!!), satellite views of my house (yeah, I know, you can get in on google earth, too) and a ton of other things. A board member here bought a subscription to see her info and it listed that she had dogs, what catalogs she orders from, her hobbies....very creepy. They should have called it stalkingfordummies.com!
The good news is it's very easy to remove yourself, I did it and was gone immediately.
I don't know if this is old news, but it was new to me, and I think it's US only.

WOW Lot'sa info there. Has all my tax records !!! Thanks for bringing this site up. I never did get those rebates for my farm machines in 1999 2000. WTF.

Sadly, these types of websites are very common. Anyone can get this information from a number of other sites, and at most there is just a small fee. I think it's terrible. No one should be able to get your information like this. Especially in this day and age.

Apparently I'm not in there, nor does it show me where it shows the parents children when I look up my parents name. That's all kind of creepy though.

KCzaja Thank you so much for posting this. I immediately went and checked it out and removed my name from there.
Brandoggy it is really simple--go to the webpage and in the search box type in your name and when it comes up copy the URL in your browser and then at the bottom of the page you will see privacy. Click on that and scroll down, paste the URL in, put in your email and then copy the code and click submit. Then it will send you an email and you click where it tells you to remove your name and info............

By the way I had 2 different listings for me and both were correct so I had to do it twice to remove both listings.
