While surfing the internet I found someone breeding west german "showline" dogs and they are not far from me. They have a website and I called them to invite them to our club. She informed me that she don't train herself and sends any dogs she want trained to illinois as the clubs she has been to didn't like "west german" dogs in the club. As we spoke further this woman thinks that the only "working line" shepherds are DDR & Czech. I mentioned that there were two west german lines and she rebuttted my statement. Rather than get into a verbal arguement I left it at that & began thinking that I really don't know all the facts myself to even explain it properly to her so I began this post. Sincerely. Kurt

Read some of the history of the breed from the 1920's, and what happened to the white GSD's, when Capt. Max started getting real ticked off at the way some were breeding. This is when it really started, but, what you will find more recently occurred in the early 1960's with the Martin brothers that ran the SV.

Kurt, I was being a smartace because like most things, it happened over time and is still going on. What's that old saying? If you ignore the past, your bound to repeat? I think in this case, you need to look to the future. The past is done and you know the problem. Fix it.
