I am interested in hearing from people who have actually purchased a titled dog  (a dog that was titled by someone else before you bought it.)

Was the dog what you expected? In other words, were you happy with the dog? Would you do it again? Any advice you could share based on your experience?

Thanks,
Sue

I had a 100% Czech lines girl that came from Slovalkia and she was everything and more that was promised.  I picked her up at the airport, she was easy to handle and act like she knew me from day one even tho she didn't understand a word of English and I knew no Czech commands.  Would I do it again?  Yes if I was in the market for a titled import.
I also had a friend about 12 yrs. ago that imported a male showline from Hungary for use as a K9 and he was everything and more.  I loved Nikko--he was a good worker and had an outstnding temperament.
The only advice I could share in this day and age is be very careful about who you are dealing with.

No, no and no!

Suppossed Sch3 female, who took a year to adjust to being here and could hardly bite a sleeve in fun. Worst dog experience ever and a big financial nightmare for me. Dog died of renal failure less than 1.5yrs after I bought her. Not sure what that dog went through in Germany but it couldn't have been good.

COMPLETELY agree with all that "VONISSK" said above...I think...as always...the main lesson to learn is to be very careful in who you're dealing with...Take your time...Research as much as possible...Do your homework and then "sleep on it" and then make up your mind when spending this amount of money...

I have purchased about 11 titled for my clients and myself, have been only burned once and that burn was compliments of a reputable American. But that one burn was on the most expensive dog I have ever purchased for myself, thank God it wasn't one of my clients! I have 100% satisfaction rate for my clients.....knock on wood!. He was everything working wise they said he would be.....just left out the part where he had a grade 4 heart murmur that you could see through his chest wall....never mind hearing it when he went for his health cert. before shipping, or the nearly 20 lbs of fluid that he had in his chest/belly or the muscle wasting along his spine!! 3 weeks after getting him he spent 4 days in ICU at OSU veterinary college! Gave him away to a nurse friend for free! Was promised a refund but havent seen that or his papers! He has congestive heart failure and is on $400 worth of meds a month.....not by my choice, I would have put him down or only given him lasix and let everything else run its course. I never thought I would get a dog titled by someone else because I was worried about if the dog would be the qualities in life as promised. I have one now and he is all that I was promised, however someone else who knew the dog also told me about the dog and the owner also had agreement to take dog back if it was not a fit. I have met a couple dogs that were purchasesd titled like the descriptions they were given and I have met some that were horror stories.

I think if you consider it you must find a reputable person willing ti stand behind the deal and you must talk to others that know the dog or watch it in person first.

Thanks all for the feedback. i keep thinking of a titled dog, do some looking around, then get cold feet when I think of all that can go wrong. I know a lady who says it was the best dog she ever owned. Then another friend says her dog was a nightmare.

I think I'm pretty realistic on the dog I want. I'm not looking for a podium dog or anything, but one that has at least seen a sleeve before. LOL.

I am right now looking to purchase a titled girl. The owner is a honest person so I dont doubt anything. I never buy titled dogs. I do the work myslef but my friend bugged me to buy this dog from her for a long time (before she was titled), she told me. you wont find a female like this every day and dont be stupid and get her for yourself! ... so I guess I  am getting her.

The dogs I helped importing, or imported for people were exactly what the owners said them to be.
No problems, new owners like them and the dogs produce and work.

Trio, talk to people, if you trust the seller, go for it. If you are not sure, shoot me PM and I can tell you what I think, you can tak it or leave it. (I dont know anything about German sellers only mostly SLovak and Czech)

Happy research and I am sure you get a good dog!
