WoW! A poignant image of a dog's capacity to bond. It makes me wonder what goes through their minds and the types of emotions they experience.

Talking about poignant - a few weeks ago I also saw a news clip (on NBC nightly news I think) where an older man had just died in a car accident. His dog survived and every single day, as the dog had done all his life, he trotted down a long country driveway to sit and wait at the intersection of the main road where the man would drive as he came home from work. The dog would not get in anyone else's vehicle, even if they were going back up his long driveway. The dog was clearly waiting for his dead master. Fortunately, the man who died has a son who is looking after the dog. In the situation in the photo above let us hope that someone there too will take care of this poor dog. It is the epitome of the bond between human and canine.......

It is a sad picture indeed. Poor dog!
Also, realize that the pre-dug holes you see around that grave will be filled by other victims of the flooding.

Why can't people take a hint?

Vikram, too true about the movie Hatchie. I did not tear up over that story, I sobbed out loud. Dogs are amazing animals with an incredible ability to bond and love us. They deserve so much more than they often receive.
