I've had two German Shepherds. My first one died in 2000 and he was 2 weeks shy of 14 years old. My current Shepherd, a female this time, is 9 and a half.

Last time I saw Jana von der Maineiche she was 15+, following Frau Mahr around the garden, a bit slow, but pretty spry. I'm not sure how long she lived. She was a Matron of Honor/Foundation Female for Maineiche kennel, still very much evident in their lines.

My longest living GSD - DSH lived to 14 yrs 8 months .......

Alk..........what a great dog. I have had several Lord line GSD's. Currently have an Alk great grand daughter, who is also a Stormfront's Brawnson grand daughter. Most of mine have left me around the 11 year mark. It's never enough time with them!!

I had a rescue who was just over 13 years she was a great dog and sadly missed my oldest one at the moment is 12 next month and looks great

My first GSD, Shadow died at 13.....not enough.

The day before he died, we went for a nice walk and he powered through a bowl of raw chicken.

My first GSD, Ayla v Haus Cruser Schh3,CDX,TD,working therapy dog extraordinaire - lived a great, active, healthy live until she started declining in health at 13 and passed away at 14. My first dog Hobo (mixed GSD/husky/lab) lived to be 16. I wish they would all live that long.

edit to add: I owned both dogs before I was "educated" on proper nutrition for dogs. LOL - they didn't apparently notice, both dogs remained healthy with absolutely no problems other than old age, well into their teens. Both dogs were fed twice/day, "crap" kibble food - whatever I thought was best bought at the grocery store. I think Ayla mainly Purina Pro Plan, and Hobo probably Purina dog chow or the like.

My girl NYX. translated: A little water sprite. She went out at 13.5 yrs. old. Loved that dog!
