So we got a bit of snow today and I headed out into the yard to play with the dogs.
I've been working on the dumbbell retrieve with my female, really making a game out of it to speed her up. Erik was out with us to run around and after a dozen or so tosses of this 'strange wooden object' he got jealous and picked it up.
I haven't introduced the dumbbells yet at all during formal training, just been keeping things light as he's still a big ole goof but as they say, when opportunity knocks don't ignore it.
Luckily my husband was out with the camera to get some shots of our son playing in the snow and managed to record Erik's first introduction to the dumbbell.
"Why do you keep picking this thing up, Hanni?"
"Hey! Gimmie that!"

"What do I ... oh you want me to come closer Mom?"
"Just give me that you ignoramous!"

"Ooo, this does seem to please Mom!"
"Yeah, she really gets happy when you sit here and don't chew it."

"What if I jump into her with it?"
"That makes her squeal with joy ... I don't get it but just go with it dude, punch her harder in the gut!"

At the end, 'retrieving' on his own without Hanni out with him.

Unfortunately not. I really would like a good solid snow and I think the dogs agree with me. Maybe Tuesday!

It really was a good time.
As a rule I loath obedience with a passion but somehow doing it with snow on the ground makes it fun.
