Hello, vets here have no experience in hip and elbow xrays, I insisted on my vet to try, here is the result. I then took pictures of the x rays with my camera, if the quality of xrays is correct but you want me to take better pictures, tell me how to and I will be glad to make more pictures. Your comments are highly appreciated as I'm worried especially about the elbows. Thanks

I work at a vet's office as a technician and the hip x-rays are not  very good. You're dog is not quite straight.

It's hard to describe on the internet, but his right leg should be stretched more or left less.

I'm no expert, but those pictures could not be sent from us for hip evaliation. We'd get them right back from sender :)

Having said that, right hip looks good but it needs a better xray with your dog more straight.
Left hip looks weird, but that might be the angle :)

escobar is correct.  very poor positioning.  hips actually look very nice and elbows are fine.  get better xrays to send in for evaluation.  these don't do justice to your dog.

2 months ago we took x rays and sent them for evaluation and they were rejected. My vet is feeling embarrassed and he didn't want to do more xrays, but on another thread where I posted videos some well experienced members commented I should check the dogs elbows, that is why I insisted on making new xrays, I thank you for your comments.

I will post xrays of my other dog, maybe they are better than these hopefully.

Ibrahim,
Please let your vet know to not be embarrassed, many that take x-rays do not take perfect ones and need a second try.  You commented that where you are the vets don't have experience.  This will be good learning for him so he can be the contact for others needing x-rays also.  There is actually a very good article on Leerburg regarding proper positioning which may be helpful for you to share with him.

Thanks aimules, I will tell him what you said and I will copy Leerburg article and give it to him too, if any one can make something from the above x rays, good or bad pls tell me, I am actually more interested in kowing the dog's condition than getting him OFAed.

 Ibrahim,

Surely your vet has access to veterinary textbooks and some of them will describe proper positioning in his own language. As well, it might be useful for him/her to view examples of GOOD x-rays and positioning. I am sure Molly here or others will have good x-rays that demonstrate proper positioning. I would also want to suggest that if the x-ray is important to you, that you consider going to the closest competent and British or American or German trained vet. I know you live in the Middle East, but perhaps you could ask around for the name of such a person and make a trip to that vet with your dog if your local vet cannot do it. Do be careful about how many x-rays the dog gets.

Finally, there are many good articles on the internet about hip x-rays that you can read. My suggestion would be to look for sources that are written by veterinarians, not dog owners or breeders. If you need some of those sources, let me know and I will send you some links to them.

Good luck.

Thanks hodie, I promise to do my best.
