Those are amazing pictures.
I'm trying to figure them out.
Obviously that roadway was built inbetween some high rocky cliffs or the trees wouldn't be growing on top, but how in the heck did they clear the snow in such high straight walls?

Apparently the snow is packed enough to support the weight of the machinery and they just scrape & plow it repeatedly from the top down, with a huge snowblower then hurling snow up to the top again:

Now isn't that something! Thanks for sharing. Here we don't have that much of snow, that is if we ever get any, so we do not need such machinery.

I just got off the phone with a friend in Tahoe City.
He said that since early this evening the snow has been nearly waist high and is still falling.
The temperature is dropping below zero and the north wind is increasing. His wife has done nothing but look through the kitchen window.
He says that if it gets much worse, he may have to let her in.
