Ok, we'd all like to get out of debt, lose some weight, quit smoking, be more organized, blah blah blah. Let's face it, most of us make the same resolutions every year because they only last about a month. If even.

I challenge each and every one of you to make a resolution this year that will make a difference:

Help one dog.

Hey, help 100 dogs if you want, but everyone start with one.

I know many people here help countless dogs every year , but so many "dog lovers" never do. In our self sentered society we often never think outside the bubble of our own lives.

If you're a person of means, pay the vet bill of a dog whose owner (or rescue/shelter) cannot afford it. If you own a kennel, save a dog from euthanasia and keep a roof over it's head until it finds a home. If you're a trainer, rehab a dog whose options have disappeared due to problem behaviors. Call a rescue and offer to be a foster home. Maybe you know of an elderly person near you who is thinking of giving up their dog because they feel they cannot excercise them- offer to walk their dog for them. Taking a road trip? Offer yourself as rescue transport.

Then, on New Year's Eve 2011, everyone who has done this can post about their experiences and lets count up how many dogs we made even a small difference for.

Who's in? It's a great feeling, trust me, and it won't collect dust like workout DVDs and self help books.

I'm in.

I was able to actively assist with rehoming 3 dogs, and had a hand in 6 others finding homes through fabulous rescues and adopters during 2010.

I try really hard NOT to "rescue", but how can you turn down the faces---- beautiful, sad, adorable, longing?
I really appreciate the assistance given by others, the patience of my family and neighbors, and have such high respect for the rescue organizations with which I work.
