Don't read the link without some kleenex or a toilet nearby to throw up in. I'm so horrified, and worst of all, this scum of the earth in FREE ON BOND. Her attorney even withdrew, even lawyers have standards I guess....
This bitch has her own special spot in hell. Worse than Kimberly Nizato, much worse. My god.

She came up with the 10% of her $250,000 bond but couldn't go feed those dogs?!

I stopped being shocked at the horrors humans are capable of a long time ago. This woman is a very sick and twisted individual IMO. Very sad for the animals and the child who once again pay the price our society has demanded by tolerating this crap and allowing it to go on.

Awful - people like this MUST have some sort of mental instability - right? I mean, how difficult is it to make one phone call to animal control - or even a neighbor - asking for help in placing the dogs, or feeding them - how hard is it to fill a bowl with water and food that is sitting right there - or even to just let the dogs loose, or bring them to the pound - even tie them out front of the closed pound if you don't want to be "caught"? Or even shooting the dogs would have been kinder. There has to be some screw missing in these people who can just allow caged animals to starve and die and rot and go about their daily lives around them while they suffer and die and rot.
I just can't understand it.

This facility is smack in the middle of a very busy retail area, not on a quiet country road, but on a major highway in an upscale suburb where thousands of vehicles go by every day. I find it hard to believe that no one at the surrounding businesses heard those dogs and noticed no one came around anymore....some of them had to have cried for food or to be let out.
I just can't get my head around it.

Sounds like she shut up the house, with no heat/elect and just walked away from them.

Mobjac,
Apathy and evil work hand in hand. Have you ever seen that show "What Would You Do?" it's a hidden camera show to see if people react to situations where they should speak up and say something-- and it's shocking how many people don't! They had a pregnant woman downing shots of tequila at a bar, a woman stealing a bike, a date putting pills in someones drink at a bar, a biggot server rudely kicking out a transvestite, a baby locked in a hot car, etc. A lot of people just think "it's none of my business." or simply don't care.
Reading that article made me sick to my stomach, just disgusted and sad. Sure she is probably mentally ill, but that doesn't absolve her of any guilt in this crime, its absolutely disgusting. My biggest pet peeve in life is excuses- I am so f'in sick of hearing them, "I didn't know," "nobody told me," "it was someone elses fault," I call it the Excuse Bible, and I'm sure this crazy lady will come up with something, and I hope they throw the book at her!
I have driven down that busy road past that house many times in the past, like KC said, it's on a main road, I never saw any dogs or people in the yard even though it said Muddy Paws on it.
Things like this make you think nosy neighbors are really not so bad. When I first moved to the place I'm at, I heard neighbors dogs barking hours on end and was spying through the fence on them making sure they were ok, looking for any suspicious signs like a lot of dog waste or skinny dogs, they were fine but I am that nosy person who will look through your fence and call AC if I don't see water for the dogs.

This is just pathetic and so damned sad. I certainly understand financial stress, but yes, before this kind of situation would develop, a sane person would do anything to get some help, be it ask neighbors, the local shelter, vets etc. for some help with food.
In my own area this week alone we have seen a man kill a puppy because he was angry at his girlfriend and several other animal cruelty incidents. There is something desperately wrong with our society at this point and animal cruelty is just a sign of that pervading illness affecting society. We see even more abuse cases with humans, children and elderly especially.
All of us need to be more proactive however to insist that such cases be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, but more importantly, that the law itself be upgraded to reflect the kind of crime it is. All of us also know that all too often people end up with an ineffective slap on the wrist for such crimes. One exception is the case of Buddy, the dog who was dragged to death here at Colorado National Monument. The perp received several years of federal prison time, and his girlfriend, one year of jail. But this was a tougher sentence because he had other criminal background. All too often, we see little consequences for such acts.
One thing that always bothers me is how many people call others, like me, rather than call the authorities themselves when they see something wrong. It happens all the time where people call me to report something and want me to do something about something I have not even witnessed. People have no guts.....or common sense, and that too does not help the animals.
