Hi Everyone, I've just mated my bitch but she's not eating to my satisfaction and only drinking water. From the very day she was hammered, as we got home she lost her appetite, why? I've had gsds that behaved just like this, some for about 2 weeks, but i'm always at a lost as to why, except that their body chemical controls their instincts once they're on heat. Got it?. . . And a HAPPY NEW 2011 TO EVERYONE IN PDB.

Niger,
A female who becomes pregnant, two to three weeks after mating, can and often does become finicky or loose her appetite for a little while. However, I would be concerned if your female stopped eating right away after mating. This is suspicious for some infection or other illness as her pregnancy is too early for too many chemical changes making her not feel like eating. It might be wise to check her temperature, and if you have any real concerns, perhaps let your vet check her.
I too object to your use of the term "hammered".......Probably many women would not think well of that choice of word. LOL
Good luck with her.

Hammered, (in Canada anyway), means drunk out of your mind. Nailed means, well, it means what happened to your female.
It's a carpenters world.

Red Sable, hammered means drunk to the point of oblivion here in the USA as well.
Pharaoh had a loss of apetite when the dog next door was in heat and of all the luck, it was a split heat. Can they go back in a third time? I know that some cats keep going into heat if they don't get "nailed". It has really changed his sunny, happy all the time disposition.
I sure hope they get her spayed or bred soon.

LOL Michele.
I'd rather be a hammer than a nail, yes I would, if I only could...
Perhaps tonight
Happy New Year!
