With all the great trainers, decoys, etc on this board......has anyone gotten together to do some training? If so how did it go?
With people on here all over I would think that at one point or another people have met and were able to spend a day training and talking in person or is everyone keeping secrets to themselves..lol

Whats wrong with you? Don't you know everything is one huge top secret covert operation?!?!

I had the privilege of sending my male for three weeks of training with Kelly Czaja aka KCzaja on the database...I spent a few days with Kelly in Illinois and met a couple people from the database.....I watched them work their dogs. I had a super great time.........Kelly is an awesome person and changed life for me and my male Prince...........I am going back soon...I miss Kelly and I have a few more people I would like to meet.......

3 parts to schutzhund...
Tracking, Obedience and Protection.
To win, your dog must score well in
all 3 phases.
FR Ring....
The Judge and the decoy will setup aginst
the dog to bring out any flaws...if this seems unfair,
it is not. If the dog prevails...the decoy and the judge
will be impressed....But most of all the breed does not
get diluted by dogs who do not qualify.
Belgium Ring..NVBK...IMO..Is the best..And I will give you
my reasons...The Judge and the decoy have more latitude
to get inside the dogs head to see what they are evaluating.
NVBK dogs are bred to be canine soldiers, that are a serious
challenge to any would be intruder. But also expected to be under the
control of the handler.
A thought for the masses....Training always...always.. starts with a good
foundation on your dog. Learn this first.....Learn this first....Learn this first.
Than you can pick up the fine tuning skills....Try to attend workshops when ever you can.

WTF?

by MAINLYMAX on 28 December 2010 - 19:12
I am not saying that people who breed for show alone will
continually try to sabotage the working dog people.
What I am saying is for those people who genuinely
want to train their dogs. And get off on the right foot.
And get on the same page, would require some effort
on the dog owners part to set up a daily regiment
for their dogs foundation work...And not just thinking
you can turn your dog over to someone for a quick fix.
That is magical thinking and will not help you. It is in
your best interest to join a club....Than you can begin to
ask very good question and see if you get any answers.
The thing is ...for a trainer.. you try to pick your dogs wisely
and the people you intend to help.

I'm still not sure what this has to do with the original topic?

by MAINLYMAX on 28 December 2010 - 19:12
For my post, I was addressing this part of topic....(everyone keeping secrets to themselves..)
This could be a topic....but here it is the bases for the question..has anyone done training
with one another...and if so is there any revelations from your experience.
In short what is the some total of your findings.....
Pat is one of the greatest decoys as well as a trainer.
Jogi keeps stepping on his dogs toes...
Denis is by far the best all round trainer I think...his
secret is very good foundation work with his dogs.
Pat to....he also has the best bloodline to work with...
DMC as a club works together unilaterally and their
tracking skills are off the chart. But they chose the same bloodlines
year after year. Because they win...IPO
It means nothing to you because you are new...but that
is OK..it is like chicken soup ...it can't hurt.

There are some very kowledgable people on here and would love to train share information with a very large number of you guys. Now just bieng in the same area is the issue but you never know with people traveling and of course if you are involved in some sport and you travel the opportunity may present itself.

Ace952,
I see what you are saying..... meet people compare notes.
The most sobering thing there is ...to see someones dog in
action....Through all the hype weather you have won nationally
or not. To meet some one who has skills you never dreamed
possible. That's when you get excited about dog sports.
