I,m thinking of requesting this thru the AKC to check the legitimacy of a litter and find true parentage on a litter. Has any one done this before and what was the outcome if so?.

You have got to be kidding..Akc come to the aid of someone legit to find out facts.
They will write a letter to the party but that party will be smart enough to know no way hosea.. and that will be the end of it...
There famous reply to no answer will be Take the party to Court and when the Court rules , and sends us a demand letter we will take further action.
Yes, when Konig was stolen by the then Trainer of PCT 4 in Harris CO...akc did nothing..the man had bred Konig to three females and Konig was not his dog..He was on consignment with HIM for PCT 4...
he didnt own him nor could breed him..I had his papers and he was my dog....The litters and other dogs involved in the FELONY case against the man, could have been faster in court proceedures if we had AKC on our side..TWO pups sold to other officers were suppose to be Konigs but the man falsified the papers saying a made up female and male were sire and dam...ha ha ha
BUT he took Konig to every training session loudly claiming this Czech male I (HE_) imported from Europe...) not....was the sire of these two wonderful working young pups...TIll one day I showed up at 6 am with an officer of his department and he was arrested....long story....
AKC told us all,,,when the court determines these pups or dogs were not Konigs or were , and the judge orders a DNA or paperwork to be put in order we will follow what the court orders..
Konig never was found..He disappeared one day.....SOLD to someone in S> CAROLINA< TENNESSEE?? I immediately had his papers blocked as dead.....but what does that matter..he had already bred Konig and used made up names for contracts and the people are still waiting for an AKC registration till this day...
AKC help find your info?? I do not think unless the party is willing it will ever happen..If there is doubt they will just pull the akc registration and hold it for umpteen months.

Bob
I've used the AKC DNA service very recently for something quite similar. I would suggest you contact the AKC DNA department and ask some questions before you do anything. I'd prefer not to discuss any of this on the board but you may contact me privately if you wish.

I too have had very disappointing experiences with AKC. They are not the organization that I thought they were. Not only are they milk-toast on helping with legitimate claims, they support continued breeding and showing of dogs that have fatal and/or quality of life impacting genetic diseases that are proven by veterinarian records! One dog with a disease that is fatal the majority of the time and very agonizing for the dogs to endure (syringomyelia), in fact a champion that was diagnosed just before he won top honors, sired an additional 30+ litters with all the pups having the disease! Now that is an organization that should be proud of itself.....NOT
