I traded my 8 month old half working and half show female for a full show female yesterday. The female had a really strong odor to her, so I bathed her. After bathing her and before drying her, I examined and saw pink/ red spots all on her skin. It's not bumpy nor swelled up, it's like a small bite. I'll try to take pictures to post on here later, but does anyone know what it could be?
I had to bath her ( no joke ) 10 times and the smell is still on her, and her coat is so oily.

What can I use to bath her in and make most of the smell and oil go away?
Thanks!

It sounds like the dog may have a yeast or fungal infection. I would have it checked out at the vet and treat accordingly. Its easier to nip it in the bud now and get on with owning your new dog instead of trying to guess at a treatment. Congrats btw.

I know you've only had her a short while, but is she itchy?
BTW Did you sell your gorgeous Bi male?

Thanks for the suggestions, I think I'mma have to take her to the vet and get her checked out. She's not scratching nor biting at herself. To her, its like its not even there.
Red Sable, my Bi color male is not sold yet. I don't want to sell him but I'm still thinking about it.
I'm taking him to an evaluation this week and see where he's at with his personal protection, after that I'll decide.
Thanks for asking.

dishwashing soap "Dawn" is the best at removing oils from fur/skin w/o overdrying it...
while dog is still wet, use dryer sheets to wipe the coat and that will take out almost any smell....
now if she does have fungal infection thats a different story...cleaning her fur won't change a thing...little red dots sound like flea bites....if they treated her right before you picked her up she may be oily, smelly and flea free yet still cary bite marks....that may explain everything you mentioned...
some people use organic flea treatments I am all for organic but not when the smell and oil is so strong that not only does it makes fleas flee but also humans in the near proximaty of the dog....

red spots generally indicate staph infection you need to bath in anti bacterial and anti sebborhea sebolux is good but only use professional grade shampoo and you need cephalexin to get it cleared up its not uncommon and certain individuals are prone to them
