Pirates Lair

I have always said that training dogs and interpersonal skills with people are interchangeable.

What does that mean?

Would you treat a dog who does not understand what you want from them any different from a person?

Would you end a training session on a bad note? Hopefully….No

Then why end a conversation or encounter with a person on a bad note?

You should never reward bad behavior from your dog, why allow a person to do it?

If you know what you’re doing; when you correct a dog and he/she submits to the correction – you stop the correction immediately

When you correct a person and he/she submits – Why would you not stop immediately?

Imagine this; dog/person – you correct the bad behavior and they submit. But you continue to correct them….

Tell me what is going to happen?

A good trainer never humanizes the dog, and I never expect the average person to be as intelligent or reasonable as a dog.

KCzaja - I have never, nor will I ever Humanize a Dog, their a Dog!

And yes, most are smarter than people. As I have said earlier - the sooner you treat dogs like a dog - the sooner you will learn how to handle them.

You missed my point unfortunately

I did not miss your point. I chose to address it lightheartedly. Relax, it's just the Internet.

This is easy, the dog will either shut down, or, if it is a Mink descendant it will try to rip you apart.
As for the person, if you are the corrector, you own your own business!

P.S. It is they're or they are, not, their.

KCzaja - I am always relaxed, please do not misinterpret me for an Internet tough guy/rude person.

I stated my simple observations and asked a question, OGBS was very close to answering the question.

But failed to interpret it completely.

I am not being rude, it is a logical and philosophical question/statement meant for all dog owners/forum users.

kim , first of all , dogs will respond on instinct , people not , they have ability to think ,and more important people have habits like hate , jalousy , stupidity ,etc , and can respond accordingly
dogs are black and wite ,, yes or no , period
so a dog will  get in avoidance , submissive or fight you , with people you will get every scenario  human can think off , from a punch in your face to setting your house on fire , nasty postings about you on pdb
or piss in your beer when you are to the toilet

I am not a trainer, but in my opinion is that dogs think in a straight line, you have to start with a foundation. If the dog understands what you want and you ( and dog ) are consistant with that task with reward then you can use a fair correction ( one good correction ) not repeated over several minutes when the dog does not do the task asked. When I mean task  it is a verbal command from me and the dog performs what I need them to do. There is no place for skipping steps in training or rushing it. Again this is my opionion. :))))
And I am just a farty old lady too :)

Always,

What will happen next? Either the dog will be confused because he already submitted to the correction and will not understand what he is supposed to do next. Or the dog will try to bite you on the first correction then bite you for sure if you continue.

With people on this forum? You would most likely just get ripped apart. A good old fashioned dogpile.
