this is my dilema We had a dog a couple years back named ''Misty'' fast forward there is another puppy from the same mother that looked like the first Misty so we named her ''Misty jr'' now the Owners of the first Misty want to buy'' Misty jr'' has anyone had two dogs with the same name like that?  Should I change Misty Jrs name?? I have no idea how it work out??

I have often changed the name of a dog I adopted. Heck, when you're rescuing a dog, and have no information on it, you don't have a choice!  I also did it when I rescued a GSD the previous owner had named Lassie, of all things!   (I changed it to Lilli Marlene.)

I think with a little work, the dog could adjust to a name change. They should work the new dog separately a couple of times a day to get her used to the new name.  I think it helps to keep the new name similar to the old, as I did in the above case.

We change the names on almost every new K9 we get.  It really is not a problem and the dog picks up the new name real quickly.  It has never beeen an issue.

Changing the name isn't what's difficult. The young one will come and think your calling her for a while when the other misty is called.

yes I change names all the time too but not when its going to a home where the other dog has the same name,.....can ya think of anything that sounds similar??

I don't know if I would or wouldn't call it something similar, like Wiskey.

A similar name would still be confusing IMO.  The pup will adjust to a new name no problem.  At 8 months, it is probably the tone, more than the name it knows anyway.

You could call her MJ

yeah I was actually just testing her since we train them the name as the recall since thats what people inevitably say when they really want the dog to come plus we have so many of them generic commands don't work ''Misty'' basicly means move in my direction..I guess they could just have the same name?? I really never had this problem before and I think in a way the name makes them like her even more...
