Krazy Bout K9s

by Krazy Bout K9s on 18 December 2010 - 16:12

PLEASE CROSS POST AND SHARE WIDELY...HE NEEDS A CHRISTMAS HOME...
Is anyone missing a GSD???
IF SOMEONE CAN GET HIM I CAN ARRANGE PILOTS AND PAWS FOR TRANSPORTATION...
Steph- Montana GSD and Belgian Malinois Rescue

We saw him Saturday licking up spilled bird seed at our feeder, but he was very afraid and limped off into the brush. We put out a pan of dog food Sat. night but didn't want to attract any of the coyotes we sometimes see out there. We watched until midnight but a possum ate the food.
Didn't see him again until this morning when he was once more licking up spilled bird food. He cowered away, but finally couldn't resist the dog food I offered. I kept giving him a little at a time and moving it closer until finally he ate at my feet and let me pet him.
He is friendly, smart, and alert, but extremely stressed and afraid, and looks like he has been in survival mode for some time. I don't think he will last much longer on birdseed and bugs. You can see every rib, and he keeps his tail tucked between his legs, but he has a beautiful face. With no fence, four cats, and another outdoor cat, we cannot keep him.
I hate to gain his trust, then send him to the pound, where due to his foot injury, he will be put down without a chance. I called a German Shepherd rescue group and every other rescue org. I could find but they are all full and said the only hope is to find him a home or someone who will foster him until the rescue group can find him a home.
Please ask around, and send this to everyone you know. We really want to help this young survivor find a home.

Steph, thanks for getting the word out! I called the lady to offer to pay for boarding the dog until a rescue group can take him, and learned that the dog is still loose and hasn't been seen for a few days. The lady went inside to get a collar and leash, and the dog was gone when she went back outside. Now that the dog is famous (he was posted on Facebook), there are rescue groups that will take him if he can be caught. The best way is a live trap, and one of the rescue groups has promised to bring one out. She has gotten a lot of calls, many of them from likely scammers who want the dog for breeding or fighting dog bait. Fortunately, this lady is very savvy as well as kindhearted, and she didn't fall for any of it. If she does catch the dog, he will go directly to a rescue group and not to an individual.

Hopefully he will remember there is food there and go back. The other ugly thought is that something has already happened to him.I hope he is allright and this is why I have the problem I do with this whole breeding BS.There is so many of these stories that go on every day and yet still certain people feel the need to breed more dogs.To bad that more of us dont give a dog  from a rescue or shelter  a chance. As they say if  there is NO market then and only then will some of this stop.I wish I had the way  to halt the market altogether just to see some of the scum gone. There is stuff that goes on that would make even the seasoned sick.Anyway, hopefully this young dog will make it to safety.

if he was close enough, I was willing to try and get my hands on him and hold him for a few days till a local rescue could take him.  I just don't have the funds to get him vetted, but could make room for him here for a little bit.  I have injectable penicillin, but thats about all the vet care I could give him for his foot.  I live near Wendy Wilson who runs the North Texas gsd rescue, and between us and some friends I know we could get him somewhere,
