From http://www.newsfirst5.com/home/
"Nine adult German Shepards and 4 puppies have been seized by the Humane Society of the Pike Peak Region. The dogs were reported underweight and some have other medical problems. They were taken from Denali Kennels, owned by Jennifer Hobbs Butler and Robert Butler.
The dogs are now under the care of the Humane Society.
Jennifer Hobbs Butler was convicted in 2006 of cruelty to animals in a horse neglect case and is still on probation.
"This case is under investigation, we are discussing felony charges with the El Paso County DA because of Jennifer Hobbs Butler's prior cruelty conviction." stated Jan McHugh-Smith, President and CEO of the HSPPR."
I posted this because there are several people on this board who play footsie with this person, selling dogs to them etc.

This kennel and some of those who have dealt with them are in it for one thing: MONEY.....look at all the litters bred in just the past few months. The dogs here have, for some time, lived in terrible conditions, and were some of the poorest specimens of the breed one will ever see.

Wow! This was a local breeder (I'm at Ft Carson) and I had considered getting a pup from them awhile back, but decided on another breeder I knew personally.
I had no idea what the conditions were there, glad they were taken away where they'll be safe.

Hodie,
Thank You for posting this and making us all aware of how this kennel treats its animals.
Since I noticed that they have several dogs on their website imported from EurosportK9, I sent them the news links.
Does anyone know what happens to the dogs next?

From what I read they (the current owner) retain ownership until this goes to court and the HSPPR is going to push for it to be a felony charge since the owner was charged with abuse/neglect prior to this, but with horses.
I'd imagine, during that time, the dogs will stay at HSPPR and the owner will be charged for their care daily - so I hope they don't end up getting them back.
I searched several other articles and there's a picture of an older dog that is really underweight, it's sad - this picture you can enlarge to see the condition, i.e. count the vertebrae in it's spine. But the dogs got lucky, we just got snow dumped on us yesterday and last night, so at least they aren't out in THAT.
