I just discovered the ASPCA dog adoption button on this web site.
I pushed this button just to take a peek.
Now I am almost sorry that I did because the first thing I noticed was that there are over 477 pages, six dogs per page, of GSD's (2862) needing to find a home on this website alone.
I realize that there are life changing events that sometimes force us to do things that we do not want to do and my heart goes out to those of you who have had to give up a loving pet because of it.
However, after reading a few of the listings I am really P#$$@% and saddened by the lack of responsibility and integrity of some people.
Sophie and Sasha, 10 week old, AKC registered pups surrendered to the rescue in Enfield, CT, by the BREEDER. IMO. this person has no business being a breeder PERIOD!!!
Then there is registered (sorry can't remember his name) who needs to find a home because his 85 year old owner just realized he can't give the dog the exercise he needs. Shame on the breeder who sold a working line puppy to an 85 year old man who obviously could not take care of the dog properly!!!
ARRRRG!!!
Sorry, just needed to vent.

And unfortunately, the ASPCA and related organizations are not without their own agendas, making it that much worse for the dogs involved. Sad, sad, sad.

It is very sad! And what is just as sad is that there are breeders out there putting out 10, 15, or more litters a year, think about how many more dogs that turns into???

I wish the GSD would fall out of favor with the general public. Alas...everyone appreciates the beauty of the breed they just don't understand the responsibility that comes with it. I hate that some breeders just keep putting those litters out there. It makes me sick. I don't want to look at that site...I can't do anything but cry about it. If I could win the lottery I could help...if a frog had wings it wouldn't bump it's butt on the ground. Sigh

I see no solution until people everywhere are willing to change. Don't see that happening.
