As many here are aware when you have an intact male and female living within the same house hold you have to potential for an OOPS breeding! If you have been a breeder or plan on breeding then "oops" will happen eventually.
Here is a helpful link that has been used in a vet clinic for "oops" breedings and it was safe and effective for the bitch....worst part was that they drink a ton of water and pee alot!
Clinical use of dexamethasone for termination of unwanted pregnancy in dogs.

I know the vets here rather have the litter comming then to inject this stuff, there are some serious risks to consider.

Some Veterinarians will not use it!

had a bitch given that, she is now completely blind, and before I noticed her going blind, I did breed her, 2 heats after being treated with this, and she had 1 very large deformed pup and had to have an emergency hysterectomy. almost died. I was lucky to get my vet to come in late thanksgiving night to treat her.
She does not have pannus, there has not been any pannus in the lines before or after her litter (litter was repeated 4 or 5 times) and she did not have any of these problems till after this treatment. vet did suggest this was from the treatment.

alot of things can contribute to an oops litter.
children letting the dogs together, its happened at vet clinics while the dogs were being kenneled, it can happen due to stress and work load on the owners part, even some bitches its hard to tell even if they are in heat. ever hear of a silent heat?
people should not be chastised for an oops litter, especially not when they handle it like Hans did, pups were placed at a reduced fee without papers. he kept 1/2 the litter for evaluation, and placed the other 2 as pets.

Powerhaus, you say "...If you have been a breeder or plan on breeding then "oops" will happen eventually. ..."
You make is sound like ALL breeders will have an "oops" sometime. I disagree. I believe that's the exception, not the rule. I am not saying it does not happen as some of the best have had it happen to them. I just do not think you should say it will happen to all, as your post stated.

Exactly Hans: probably 15 years ago, I had an oops breeding that is exactly what my Vet told me, but it turned out ok, she was not preg. but would never do that to a dog, Do not think any reasonable person would..Lida
