Hello People,
I had a very interesting experience yesterday. My dog Hachiko won his class comfortably. As he is 13 months old he contested in junior class.
i was told that he is eligible for best of breed in which all class winners will compete.
well we contested and the judge put hachiko in the front after numerous rounds and bite work check.
then the a man who was steward did something he told the judge that sir pl, ask the first two dogs to run indivividually in which the open class male which was 4 years old had a much longer reach and performed better and my dog from best of breed was given reserve best.
later when questioned the critique was that we dont know how the dog will turn out after a year and a half. i felt really angry.
PL. give your comments about what r the international norms in such cases.

I was curious if this was a show at which CACIBs were given.Only under such circumstances your 13 month old dog could be refused the top award as he is too young for a CACIB.Then again he would be also too young for the Reserve CACIB.In a non CACIB show as far as I am concerned it is purely the judge's perrogative if he or she wishes to give any dog he or she fancies the Best of Breed.Where do you live?Maybe then it might be easier to understand the rules.

CACIB is different than BOB.At FCI shows CACIB and res.CACIB can be obtained in Intermediate class / 15-24 months old dogs/, Open class /from 15 months of age/, Working class /for dogs from 15 months of age that have passed the trial/ and in Champion class.
BOB - the winners of youth classes, intermediate, open, working and champion class compete for this title at the national show, at international show it´s the winners of the youth class plus dogs that got CACIB.
