So I'm curious, do any of you guys have a female dog who hikes her leg? My female Siberian Husky always squats, but hikes one of her legs at the same time to mark where another dog went to the bathroom. Random, weird question I know, but hey I'm bored right now.

My girl does that sometimes. Mine doesn't raise it as high as my male, (and he squats sometimes too) but the way I see her doing it..... she wants to cover the other urine without her paw touching it, so she wants to be right on TOP OF IT but doesn't want her paw to touch the other scemt.

It's just funny to see the female doing it. A lot of times "Sierra" my female Husky will hike her leg, pee.....and then start kicking the grass up with all four paws. She gives me a weird look, puts her body into a play stance, and acts like she wants to play. Then she turns around once and lets out a big whoooo that a lot of Huskies do when they talk to you. If you've never been around a pack of Huskies who "talk" to you, you should lol.

It's not that common, but not unusual either. My Rottweiler mix marks like a male. Hikes leg up high, marks over other dog's markings, doles it out in little portions to be able to mark her whole territory. She just about never squats. I've heard hiking leg and marking are signs of a dominant female. She is dog dominant, but pretty easy-going with people.

I had a very dominant female that never squated to pee. From day one she hiked her leg. It was hilarious to watch this little thing, barely able to walk, trying to hike her leg. She did it 'til the day she died at 12 y/o.

I had a bitch do it, come to find out that she didn't like her feet getting wet.......
so she would squat, and life a leg.
I also had a bitch that lifted her leg like a male - we called her Butch - because she was!
