Rugers Guru

Is there a down side to too much fish oil? I use softgels and have been boosting for hair loss from a flea allergy over the summer. Any input would be great.
A little info;
2 yrs old female, eating ONLY raw... Never had allergies, fleas came in force this year and she got popped. By the time I realized it was fleas she had started loosing hair. Took her to the vet and had her scraped and came back clear for demodex and sarcoptic. Got rid of every flea on the property, and she stopped itching. Now I am boosting her skin health with more Omega 3&6.
I have not noticed runny stool, and I have been trying to top her intake, but she is up to 6 capsuls a day. I just need to know if there is a negative to this.

Rugers Guru, I am giving 3 - 1000 mg. soft gel capsules daily, plus a teaspoon of olive oil daily, I'm feeding raw venison and so far i haven't noticed a down side. Coat is getting thicker and luster is returning, scratching  is decreasing. The dog I am treating is a wg s/l male, 77lb, 18 months old and has been on this diet for a couple months. This dog suffers from dry flaky skin as well as flea allergy.

Awesome, thank you for responding. These are 1200 mg 3 & 6. I am giving 6 capsuls a day and I have been told to watch for loose stool... Increase until I see it, then decrease when I see it as this is the body shedding the unused oil. I also feed a lot of venison and she is doing great weight wise. I just feel like I should be doing more for her because it is taking sooooo long for her hair to grow back. I do not want to give antibiotics, or steroids, but she will be titling this spring and I do not want a bald butted dog on the field.... LOL

Shapley's M-T-G. works like a charm on horses, and I used it on my dogs too.
Smells like burnt wood, not sure what is in it, but it really works.

Rugers Guru, Are you feeding venison on the bone, i think the calcium in the bone will offset any excess oil that makes the stool loose. The venison is low in fat so I think the oil suppliment in the diet is a good thing. My boy actually has a rather dry stool when eating venison, I think the oil helps move the venison thru the digestive system.

both... I do a 80 10 10% ratio... They all have great stool. I also believe the oils help the venison.

I feed Orijen and give mine frozen green tripe once a week and also 3 to 6 fish oil caps a day. My dogs "glow". Their poops are just fine.

Rugers Guru
Have you tried a supplement called SHOWSTOPPER? I have used it in the past and have had great results with it. The dogs coats are really nice thick and shinny. I get it from www.k9power.com
If you get the 4 pound one the shipping is free.
I have also used fish oil in the past too. It didnt really seem to help or hurt my dogs. I now use Canola oil with Omega 3 and the dogs look great now. They get about 1 teaspoon 3-4 times a week. I do not feed raw though... I feed TOTW.
